We’re getting started on the 2011 Relay. It will be on June 11, 2011 at McCullough Field.

Pictures from the final Team Captains Meeting

Well, we had the final meeting for the 2010 Relay last night. We recognized a lot of hard work by the Team Captains, by the teams, individual fundraisers, and committee members. There are pictures available at http://picasaweb.google.com/LaurelRelay/FinalTeamCaptainsMeeting05# .

We had one team (captained by Darlene and Robin Brecht) who raised over $10,000 by themselves. The event as a whole has made over $88,000 so far and we are still expecting some big sponsors to come through. The web site is still accepting donations until August and we hope we can break $100,000 for the year. You can still get sponsors and get donations through the web site.

Two more very important people need to be recognized. Since she was leading the meeting, Linda could not recognize all the hard work she and Huck put into this year’s Relay. The two of them have spent many many hours coordinating and cajoling to get this event to run as smoothly as it did.

Well, the decision has been made to hold the event at McCullough Field. Check out the nitty gritty schedule for details. Be sure to bring ponchos and umbrellas to help scare off any rain clouds that might be lingering in the area.

The information is finalized to the extent that we will not be adding laps or changing their order unless we have a really good reason. The Relay is less than a week away and hopefully everyone is working on their packing list to be sure they don’t forget anything. But in case you’re new (or a veteran taking a mental break in the heat) we’ve put together a list of suggestions about what you should be bringing. Have you seen our totals on the website? Check it out! We are up to 350 registered participants and you are raising money at an impressive rate…can’t wait to see what June 2nd total looks like! Remember we meet June 1 – drop by the Laurel Firehouse between 5:30-8:30 for final details and shirts. Keep the fundraising going…it is working..

BAM Fundraiser May 15 Buy a book at Books-A-Million and they will make a donation to the Relay

Yard Sale May 15 A bib multi-family yard sale to benefit Relay

California Tortilla Fundraiser 2010 Mention the Secret Word – Cancer- when you’re ordering and they’ll make a donation to the Relay
